The Arts instill value. Studies have shown that children who explore and participate in creative and artistic outlets perform better at reading, writing and math; develop self-confidence and self-esteem; boost self-reliance; and increase empathy and compassion. CREATE is a youth-led program for the empowerment of refugee children. Through art and music, CREATE fosters teamwork, creativity, and confidence. Activities bring together refugee kids and high-school mentors, building connections and confidence through art projects. Some of the activities include painting teacups, build boxes from paper, fold origami dragons, and listen and perform music.
